Roller Conveyor System FAQs

Selecting a bespoke conveyor system depends heavily on your operational environment:
  • Lithium Battery & New Energy: Requires Zinc-free and Copper-free materials to prevent contamination. We often recommend stainless steel or specialized plastic rollers with anti-static (ESD) properties.
  • Mining & Heavy Industry: Demands heavy-duty gravity rollers with superior sealing (like labyrinth seals) to protect bearings from dust, grit, and moisture.
  • Logistics & Warehousing: Focuses on high-speed rollers and low-noise motorized systems to handle high-volume package sorting efficiently.
Understanding the drive mechanism is key to optimizing your automated material handling flow:
  • Gravity Roller Conveyors: The most cost-effective solution for manual loading areas or decline runs. They require no power but offer less control over product speed.
  • Motorized Drive Rollers (MDR): Ideal for Zero Pressure Accumulation (ZPA). These systems allow zones to start and stop independently, preventing product collisions—a critical feature for fragile new energy components and high-speed logistics.
In any conveyor belt or roller system, maintaining product orientation during a turn is a challenge.
Tapered Rollers are engineered with a graduated diameter that compensates for the speed difference between the inner and outer radius of a curve.
This ensures that pallets or parcels remain centered, reducing friction and preventing "tracking" issues that lead to system jams in distribution centers.
To ensure the longevity of your conveyor rollers, load calculation must account for the heaviest item moved.
  • Light-Duty: Typically for goods under 50kg (e.g., small e-commerce parcels).
  • Medium to Heavy-Duty: Designed for 50kg to 1,500kg+, common in automotive assembly and mining equipment transport.
  • Rule of Thumb: A minimum of three rollers must be in contact with the product at all times to ensure stability and even weight distribution.
To maintain a low-maintenance conveyor system, follow these three steps:
  • Bearing Inspection: Check for noise or heat buildup, which indicates lubrication failure or debris ingress.
  • Tube Surface Check: Look for "flat spots" or material buildup (especially in mining) that could affect the conveyor's rolling efficiency.
  • Drive Tensioning: For chain or belt-driven rollers, ensure proper tension to prevent slippage, which causes inconsistent throughput in lithium battery production lines.
