Silicone Roller
Silicone Roller FAQs
What you may want to know about Silicone Roller
AstraRoll Silicone Rollers are designed for applications requiring non-stick performance, high-temperature resistance, soft contact, and food-safe operation. Combining a precision-machined metal core with high-quality silicone rubber coating, these rollers excel in packaging, heat sealing, printing, laminating, food processing, textile drying, and plastic forming lines. They offer stable performance under high heat, excellent release properties, gentle contact with delicate materials, and strong resistance to aging, making them irreplaceable in processes where metal rollers would cause adhesion, scratching, or thermal damage.
Material Structure & Core Design
Our silicone rollers consist of a high-precision metal core (carbon steel or stainless steel) and a professional-grade silicone elastomer coating. The core provides rigidity, torque resistance, and dimensional stability, while the silicone layer offers the functional surface. We use heat-resistant, food-grade, and high-strength silicone compounds tailored to different temperatures and loads. The bonding process between silicone and core is specially treated to prevent peeling, bubbling, or deformation even under long-term high-temperature operation.
Silicone Hardness & Performance Characteristics
Silicone hardness directly affects application performance and can be customized according to process requirements.
- Soft silicone (40–60 Shore A): Provides gentle contact, prevents scratching, and is suitable for delicate films, foils, labels, and soft materials.
- Medium hardness (60–80 Shore A): Balances grip and release, widely used in sealing, laminating, and transferring.
- High hardness (80–90 Shore A): Offers better wear resistance and pressure stability for hot pressing, embossing, and heavy conveying.
All silicone formulations support high-temperature resistance, low compression set, non-stick behavior, and ozone/aging resistance.
Temperature Resistance & Application Stability
AstraRoll Silicone Rollers are available in different temperature grades to match various thermal processes. Standard-grade silicone operates stably between -60°C and 200°C, while high-temperature silicone can withstand up to 250–300°C for long-term use. Unlike other rubbers, silicone does not harden, crack, or produce residue under continuous heat, making it ideal for heat sealing, heat transfer, shrink packaging, drying lines, and thermoforming. It also remains flexible at low temperatures without becoming brittle.
Non-Stick & Hygienic Properties
Silicone's natural non-stick surface prevents adhesion with adhesives, plastics, resins, food pastes, and hot melt materials. The smooth, non-porous surface does not trap dust or contaminants and is easy to clean. Food-grade silicone versions comply with FDA and EU food safety standards, allowing direct contact with baked goods, confectionery, chocolate, and packaging materials without odor or contamination.
Industry Adaptability & Functional Scenarios
Silicone rollers are widely used across industries requiring thermal processing, surface protection, or non-stick conveying. In packaging, they support heat sealing, shrink wrapping, and bag making. In printing and laminating, they ensure uniform pressure and prevent scratching on films and papers. In food production, they handle baking, chocolate molding, and confectionery transfer. In textiles and nonwovens, they are used in drying and setting processes. They also serve in electronics manufacturing for gentle pressing and insulation applications.
Customization & Processing Options
We provide full customization to meet process parameters and equipment dimensions. Core material (steel or stainless steel), roller diameter, coating thickness, shaft style, and keyway design can all be customized. We also offer surface machining such as grooved rollers, embossed patterns, concave/convex profiles, and tapered rollers. Silicone color can be customized for identification or industry requirements. All products can be designed to replace existing rollers without modification.
