Customize High quality air differential shaft for printing machine Details
The AstraRoll slip differential air shaft is a pneumatic friction differential shaft designed for the rewinding station of slitting machines, where multiple narrow rolls are wound on a single shaft at the same time. Because every material roll has a slightly different diameter build-up, a rigid shaft would force the web to stretch unevenly - causing wrinkles, edge marks and loose rolls. The AS-SD series solves this with independent slip units: each rewind position carries its own friction torque, set once and held automatically.
The shaft is machined from high-strength aluminum, fitted with precision bearings, and powered by durable flat airbags that expand to engage each slip unit. Torque is adjusted by simply changing the inflation air pressure - no mechanical disassembly, no guesswork.
Key Features
- Independent slip control per position - each rewind core holds its own tension, preventing wrinkles and edge damage on multi-roll rewinds
- Pneumatic friction design - torque is set by air pressure and stays consistent across the whole roll build
- Durable flat airbags - high-quality polyester-rubber airbags with excellent resilience and long service life; simple to replace when worn
- Precision aluminum body - lightweight with stable concentric rotation for high-speed slitting lines
- Bearing-fitted core components - quality bearings fitted as standard for smooth, low-vibration running
- Adjustable torque range - friction torque rises with inflation pressure, covering light film to heavy paper webs
- Custom sizes - standard 3", 6", 8", 12" or fully custom diameters and lengths per your drawing
- Machinery test report included - each shaft is tested before shipment, with out-going video inspection available

FAQ
Q1. What is the difference between a slip differential shaft and a standard air shaft?
A standard air shaft expands to grip one core. A slip differential shaft has independent slip units, each holding its own friction torque, so multiple rolls wound on one shaft keep even tension regardless of diameter build-up.
Q2. How is the torque adjusted?
Torque is set by inflation air pressure. Increase the pressure for higher friction torque; reduce it for lighter tension. No mechanical adjustment is needed during a run.
Q3. How long do the airbags last?
The flat airbags are made of high-quality polyester-rubber with good resilience. Service life depends on running hours and pressure, and they are designed for simple, low-cost replacement when worn.
Q4. Can you build non-standard diameters and lengths?
Yes. We manufacture per your drawing, including custom diameters, lengths, number of slip units, coatings and end configurations.
Q5. Which materials are available?
Aluminum is standard. Stainless steel suits cleanroom, food and corrosive environments; 45# steel suits heavy torque loads.
Q6. What is the lead time and MOQ?
Lead time is typically 15–20 days; 7 days for small quantities (1–5 pcs). Small MOQs are accepted for testing and new projects.
Q1. Are you a trader or direct factory?
We are a direct manufacturing factory with over 20 years of expertise in high-end industrial rollers, casters and material handling solutions. Our facility operates with ISO-certified quality management systems, allowing us to maintain full control over production cycles and quality standards. Throughout two decades of growth, we have established deep, long-term strategic partnerships with several listed companies and global automation leaders, proving our reliability as a high-tier industrial supplier.
Q2. What are your main products?
AstraRoll specializes in the engineering and production of three core product lines: Industrial Rollers, Heavy-Duty Wheels, and Precision Casters. We do not just sell components; we provide integrated movement and transport solutions. Our products are widely utilized across high-demand sectors, including: New Energy, Lithium Battery, Mining, Heavy Industry, Medical Institutional, Agriculture and Logistics.
Q3. What about delivery time?
We deeply understand that project timelines are critical.
Standard Products: Usually dispatched within 7–15 working days if the components are in stock.
Customized/OEM Orders: Depending on the complexity and volume, the lead time typically ranges from 20–35 days. This includes time for technical drawing confirmation, specialized tooling, and rigorous pre-shipment testing.
