Product Overview:

In flexible packaging, bag manufacturing, and print finishing, the continuous heat-sealing and cutting of polymeric films (PE, PP, BOPP) present severe mechanical and thermodynamic challenges. The backing roller (or anvil roller) must absorb the repetitive, high-pressure impact of hot sealing bars and rotary knives without degrading, melting, or allowing molten plastic to adhere to its surface. The AstraRoll Industrial Cutting and Sealing Roller is engineered precisely for these destructive environments. Vulcanized with a specialized High-Tear-Strength (HTS) silicone compound, these rollers endure continuous operating temperatures up to 250°C (482°F) while exhibiting extraordinary resistance to mechanical slicing and grooving. Available with advanced antistatic (ESD) properties to prevent film cling, they ensure flawless, high-speed sealing and cutting with zero web jams or plastic wrapping.

Industrial Silicone Rubber Cutting and Sealing Rollers for Print Finishing Details

The AstraRoll Technical Advantage

We do not use standard commercial silicone. Our sealing rollers are compounded specifically for the violent nature of cut-and-seal machinery:

High-Tear-Strength (HTS) Matrix: Standard silicone rubber has low physical tear strength and will quickly shred when used as a cutting anvil. Our proprietary HTS silicone formulation provides extreme cut-and-abrasion resistance, acting as a durable, forgiving anvil that protects your metal blades from dulling while extending the roller's lifespan.

Anti-Static / ESD Formulations: High-speed film processing generates massive static electricity, causing bags to stick to the roller, misalign, or collect dust. AstraRoll offers semi-conductive silicone blends that safely dissipate static charges, ensuring smooth, continuous web output.

Thermal & Non-Stick Purity: Operating continuously at 250°C, the silicone maintains its geometric profile without softening. Its ultra-low surface energy ensures that hot-melt adhesives and molten thermoplastics cleanly release from the roller face every single rotation.

Precision Core Rigidity: A sealing roller must apply perfectly even pressure across the entire web. Our heavy-walled steel cores are engineered to resist bowing under immense downward pressure, and the silicone is CNC-ground to a runout (TIR) of ≤ 0.02mm for flawless, air-tight seals.

Key Specifications

Please note: We manufacture the core and compound the silicone entirely to your machine's specifications.

Why Choose AstraRoll?

1. Custom Relief Grooving

Many automatic bag-making machines utilize a combined cut-and-seal bar. If the blade protrudes further than the sealing jaw, it can destroy the backing roller. AstraRoll can CNC-machine precise relief grooves (channels) into the silicone surface, allowing the hot blade to pass through harmlessly while the adjacent raised silicone firmly presses the seal.

2. Factory-Direct Re-Vulcanization

Cutting anvils are the ultimate sacrificial component—they will eventually wear out. Do not discard the expensive precision metal cores. Ship your worn sealing rollers to the AstraRoll factory. We will strip the shredded rubber, re-vulcanize a fresh layer of HTS silicone, and precision-grind it to OEM tolerances at aggressive B2B pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Will the cutting blade eventually destroy this silicone roller?
A: Yes, any elastomer acting as an anvil against a steel blade will eventually groove. However, our High-Tear-Strength (HTS) silicone is engineered to drastically slow this process. It acts as a "self-healing" mat, absorbing the cut rather than tearing apart, which extends the roller's life by 3X to 5X compared to standard commercial silicone.

Q: Should I choose a harder or softer silicone for my sealing machine?
A: If you are only heat sealing (no cutting), a softer silicone (e.g., 60A) is excellent because it conforms over wrinkles and varying film thicknesses to ensure a perfect air-tight seal. If the roller is acting as a cutting anvil, you need a harder silicone (e.g., 75A - 85A) to provide a firm backing so the blade can shear the plastic cleanly without burying itself too deep into the rubber.

Q: Why do my plastic bags keep wrapping around my current silicone roller?
A: This is almost always caused by static electricity generated by the unwinding plastic film, not by heat-sticking. Upgrading to AstraRoll's Antistatic Silicone Formulation will ground the static charge, allowing the cut bags to drop cleanly onto the conveyor.
